Expressions, An exhibition of Abstract Paintings by Madhushree Muchhal. At Jehangir Art Gallery, Mumbai. From 31st Oct to 6 Nov, 2023
The recent work of a well known contemporary artist, Madhushree Muchhal will be displayed in a solo art exhibition at Jehangir Art Gallery, Hall no. 3, M. G. Road, Kala Ghoda, Mumbai from 31st Oct to 6th Nov, 2023 between 11am to 7pm. It will reveal her artistic perceptions through abstract expressions about Nature and vivid realities of life in colourful modes and forms.
Madhushree Muchhal is a self-taught artist from Indore and has had over 15 solo and 45 group shows in India, USA and UK. She has won several awards like the Stri Shakti Award, AIFACS Award, Lokmanya Tilak All India Award. Her recent solo show in Silicon Valley in California, USA in April 2023 was received with a lot of appreciation by both Americans and Indians living there.
The interplay of colors, forms and textures play a very important role in her paintings. She loves the excitement of sweeping back freshly layered paint and cutting into previous layers to reveal an extraordinary medley of fleeting colors. The bright and vibrant colors that are used, elevate the soul and give out positive vibrations to the viewer. The paintings are impressionistic renderings of various natural phenomena and transient images. The compositions are loaded dualities between reason and emotion, matter and spirit; they are a combination of abstract elements and realistic objects.
In her own words, “The canvas is like a mirror, reflecting my own thoughts, feelings and emotions. I simply allow my instincts to guide me into the creative process. The experience of bringing out the interplay between vibrant colors, mysterious forms and bold textures along with my emotions, is a meditative process. This process of creating something unique is a soulelevating journey to a beautiful destination.”
The world famous artist, S.H. Raza attended her solo show in Mumbai and complimented her work saying, “Excellent work, rich in colour and composition. All the best”. Her small miniatures were also appreciated by the renowned artist M.F. Hussain on his visit to Indore.
