Trailer of ‘Reel Star’ Released, Film to Hit Screens Across Maharashtra on November 14

After a powerful music launch event, the much-anticipated Marathi film ‘Reel Star’ has now unveiled its captivating trailer. Notable actors from Hindi and Marathi cinema — Raima Sen, Avadhoot Gupte, Akash Thosar, Sayali Patil, Somnath Avghade, Gaurav More, Anant mahadevan, Adarsh Shinde, Guru Thakur and others — have shared the ‘Reel Star’ trailer across their platforms. The trailer offers an intriguing glimpse into what the film has in store, clearly indicating that ‘Reel Star’ is set to expand the horizons of Marathi cinema. The film will release across Maharashtra on November 14.

The trailer opens with the impactful line, “If a common man stands by the system with honesty, the entire system can be set right.” The film revolves around Bhanudas, a roadside vendor who travels on a bicycle selling goods. Though ordinary by livelihood, he possesses extraordinary talent for creating reels. The story follows the dreams of Bhanudas and his wife, their struggles, and their fight against a system driven by power, politics, caste equations and money games. Dialogues like “When money and muscle take the place of police duty, justice becomes impossible for the common man” and “You may kill us, but you can never defeat us” underline the film’s emotional intensity. The song “Gar Gar Gara, Zindagi Ghume Chakavarati…” beautifully captures the soul of the narrative.

Speaking about the film, directors Simmy and Robin said, “The story of ‘Reel Star’ will feel like it comes from the world around us. We have blended the dreams and struggles of the common man with the realities of our socio-political system to create an engaging cinematic experience. Melodious music, powerful performances, and high-quality production values make this a complete entertainer.”

Produced by Jose Abraham, Monica and Nishil Kambati under the banners J-Fives Entertainment, Phoenix Group and Initiative Films, ‘Reel Star’ is directed by Simmy and Robin, the duo behind the Hindi–Marathi multi-starrer ‘Anya’. Simmy and Krishna Enterprises are the co-producers of the movie. The story is penned by Sudhir Kulkarni, former assistant to filmmaker Nagraj Manjule. The film features five songs, each crafted for different moods and situations. ‘Drishyam’ fame composer Vinu Thomas has scored four songs, while music composer Shubham Bhatt — who has worked as an assistant to the legendary A. R. Rahman — has composed one track.

In the lead role, Bhushan Manjule (brother of Nagraj Manjule) plays Bhanudas, while Prasad Oak portrays a fierce and uncompromising journalist. They are joined by Milind Shinde, Kailash Waghmare, Urmila J Jagtap, Ruchira Jadhav, Swapnil Rajasekhar, Shubhangi Latkar, Vijay Patkar, Anant Mahadevan, Gyanesh Wadekar, Mahesh Subhedar, Shivaji Patne, Ganesh Revadekar, Abhinay Patekar, Rajesh Malvankar, Jagdish Hadap, Poonam Rane, Abhay Shinde, Anil Kavathekar, Vinita Shinde, Prashant Shinde, Karishma Desale etc. Child actors Arjun Gaykar and Tanishka Mhadshe also play significant roles.

The film’s Creative Producer is Mahendra Patil and Nandu Acharekar is the Chief Associate Director. Deepak Pandey serves as the Casting Director, with Rohit Kulkarni as Associate Director. Makeup is by Bhagwat Sonawane, costumes by Rani Wankhade, production design by Rahul Sharma and Sameer Chitnavis, and art direction by Nilesh Rasal. The songs from this film are being presented under Saregama and Cinepolis will distribute the film.
