‘Ladki Bahin’ A complete family entertainment package with a musical treat…

Some films manage to spark curiosity among audiences right from the moment they are announced. One such film, which comments on events happening in society, has been widely discussed across the film industry and among viewers. The much-talked-about “Ladki Bahin Yojana” launched by the Government of Maharashtra created a strong impact in society and became a topic of discussion everywhere. Now, this very theme of “Ladki Bahin” will also appear on the big screen. With the tagline “The ₹1500 installment is worth more than a lakh in our household,” the upcoming Marathi film ‘Ladki Bahin’ is set to release in theatres across Maharashtra on 17 April.

Presented by Shubham Film Production, the film is directed by Sheetal Shinde, who has also produced it under the banner of Shanidev Films. The story, screenplay, and dialogues are written by Ganesh Shinde. Babasaheb Patil is the executive producer. Writer Pratap Gangawane serves as the film’s mentor, while Shekhar Mate, Pankaj Chavan, Social activist Trupti Desai, and Lahu Salunkhe have extended special support to the project.

The title ‘Ladki Bahin’ itself provokes thought, and the film’s tagline hints at what audiences might expect. It raises curiosity about whether the film only comments on the government scheme or if there are deeper dramatic elements hidden within the story. The film stars Smita Tambe in the lead role, along with Surekha Kudachi, Usha Nadkarni, Usha Naik, Gautami Patil, Rukmini Sutar (Saru Aaji), Sarika Jadhav, Poonam Kapse, Madhav Abhyankar, Shashank Shende, Anil Nagarkar, Suresh Vishwakarma, Siddheshwar Zadbuke, Ganesh Shinde, Darshana Jokre and Mega Shinde.

The film portrays how a government scheme can support and strengthen the lives of ordinary homemakers. Following the spirit of the saying “Let us help one another and move together on the right path,” the story highlights how underprivileged women come together and work toward their collective progress. A topic that has become widely discussed—from government offices to common households—is presented in an engaging and entertaining manner in this film. With a meaningful story, gripping events, heartfelt emotions, melodious music, vibrant dance sequences, powerful performances, and a strong social message, director Sheetal Shinde believes that ‘Ladki Bahin’ will provide wholesome entertainment for the entire family.

While addressing a social issue with a touch of humor, the film carefully maintains the seriousness of the subject. Performances by renowned Marathi actors are expected to keep audiences engaged until the very end and Lavani Queen Gautami Patil’s special Gavlan dance performance is likely to mesmerize viewers. The songs in the film are choreographed by Chinu Chetan, while the music is composed by Vineet Deshpande. Cinematography is handled by Baba Lad and Chaitanya Salunkhe. The songs are sung by Umesh Gavali, Anand Shinde and Gayatri Shelar, adding further musical richness to the film.
