Amruta Fadnavis, Suresh Oberoi & Shreyas Talpade reveal the stories behind Roopa Iyer’s vision for ‘Azad Bharath’

Roopa Iyer’s Azad Bharath stands as a heartfelt ode to Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, his enduring legacy, and his visionary creation of the Rani Jhansi Regiment. At its core, the film brings to life the extraordinary yet seldom-told story of Neera Arya and countless unsung heroes who fought with unshakable courage for India’s freedom.

Zee Studios’ ‘Azad Bharath’ stars Shreyas Talpade as Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, Suresh Oberoi as the revolutionary freedom fighter Chhaju Ramji, Roopa Iyer as Neera Arya, Roopa has also directed and produced the film. Amruta Fadnavis has also lent her voice to Azad Bharath’s anthem.

Amruta Fadnavis added, “It’s an honour to be here. Azad Bharath is a beautiful film and it gloriously conveys the story of Neera Arya. Roopa Iyer, she has not only portrayed the character in the film but also directed and produced the film. Wearing three hats in a single project is definitely commendable! Suresh ji, (Suresh Oberoi), he is an inspiration to all of us. It has been an honour to lend my voice for the national anthem in the film. I feel lucky to have a small contribution in such a prestigious project to honour Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Ji’s legacy. The most inspiring part of his legacy is how he uplifted the women and created the Rani Jhansi regiment. There’s no mention of Neera Arya in history, big thanks to Roopa for bringing such untold stories to the forefront. The film releases on 2nd January, the same month wherein we celebrate Netaji’s birthday. We can pay our tributes to him by watching the film.”

Roopa Iyer shared, “I feel blessed because this film has been made with the Almighty guiding me consistently be it helping me to choose the actors or even in connecting with the actors. The Almighty has been a guiding force for me, throughout. Shreyas ji asked me why I thought he could play Netaji’s character to which I replied, his versatility, his ability to step into the shoes of any character makes him the perfect choice. This film is a ‘must-watch’ for the younger generation who keeps complaining about not having it all despite having luxurious phones and everything around them. This story is about Neera Arya, the Rani Jhansi regiment and all those unsung heroes who, since their teenage years, despite not having anything at all, were dedicated to their motherland, to Netaji.”

The film Azad Bharath is all set to release worldwide on 2nd January 2026, the same month that marks Netaji’s 129th birth anniversary i.e 23rd January. Produced by Zee Studios, the film has stirred great anticipation amongst the audiences and stars Shreyas Talpade, Roopa Iyer and Suresh Oberoi in pivotal roles.
