Director Ravi Jadhav’s film ‘Timepass’ released on 3 January 2014 and the film set new records of popularity. Boards of ‘Housefull’ were spotted outside cinema halls. The dialogues, songs and style of the film became popular, but along with it, Dagdu, the hero of the film, made a home in the hearts of the fans. This film gave Marathi cinema its first superstar named Prathamesh Parab in the form of Dagdu. The English proverb ‘And Star is Born’ was proved true by ‘Timepass’ in the form of Dagdu. Although it has been almost 11 years since the release of this film, its sweetness has not diminished even for an hour. Meanwhile, Prathamesh has jumped from Marathi to Hindi and is succeeding in making his indelible mark there as well. He is all set to rock the movies in the new year.
‘Hey, look at Dagdu!’, ‘Dagdu, shall we take a selfie?’, ‘Dagdu, what new movie is coming now?’ It has been 11 years since Dagdu met the audience with these questions. Dagdu is a perfect example of how one character can turn an artist’s career around and change his entire life. This character set Prathamesh on the path to success from which he never looked back. Accepting the challenges of new characters, he continued to meet the audience in different forms. Due to this reason Prathamesh has very important upcoming films in his pocket today. Expressing happiness that ‘Timepass’ has been released for 11 years, Prathamesh said that even after 11 years, I am truly grateful for the love that Dagdu people still remember. An opportunity that changed my life 360 degrees, a character and then an integral part of my life! I remember this Dagdu even if a movie becomes a hit or even if a movie doesn’t do well! When the movie became a hit, the panels of ‘Housefull’ from the time of ‘Timepass’ were recalled. Dagdu must be appreciating me by saying ‘Ai, Baba and Saibaba Shappath’, keep doing the same. On the other hand, if a movie doesn’t do well, I can feel the Dagdu saying, “Don’t take tension, tell tension, ‘Chal Ae, Hawa Aane De'” and move on. Along with Marathi films, Prathamesh, who has appeared in many other films including the superhit Hindi film ‘Drishyam’ and the fan-favorite web series ‘Taja Khabar’, will be seen in some more important films and web series this year i.e. 2025. Prathamesh’s upcoming films currently include ‘Mukkam Post Devachan Ghar’, ‘Mumbai Local’, ‘Susat’, ‘Gadi No 1760’ and ‘Hukkey’. Apart from this, talks are going on for some other films and he is all set to play different characters in Hindi as well. Prathamesh said that it is not possible to say more about some of the upcoming projects as things are going on at the preliminary level. In short, fans will get to experience the bang of Prathamesh’s films in the new year.
