– Windows Production is thrilled to announce that their first-ever Hindi film, ‘Shastry Virudh Shastry’, co-produced with Viacom 18 and made by the acclaimed director duo from Bengal Nandita Roy and Shiboprosad Mukherjee, has been selected for a special screening for the members of Rajya Sabha. The screening is scheduled to take place on March 23, 2024, at the GMC Balayogi Auditorium, Parliament Library Building, commencing at 11.30 am.
‘Shastry Virudh Shastry’ has garnered significant attention since its release, securing a spot on Netflix’s Top 10 list for an impressive 20 consecutive days and receiving accolades from both audiences and critics alike. The film’s compelling narrative, coupled with stellar performances by a talented ensemble cast including Paresh Rawal, Neena Kulkarni, Manoj Joshi, Shiv Pandit, Mimi Chakraborty, Kabir Pawa, and others, has captivated viewers across the nation. The film has been written by Anu Singh Choudhary, along with the directors.
Notably, the special screening at the Rajya Sabha will be graced by the esteemed presence of the Secretary General, Rajya Sabha, and renowned actor Shri Paresh Rawal, who plays a pivotal role in the film. Co-director Nandita Roy will also be in attendance to witness this landmark event.
Expressing his heartfelt appreciation for the film, Paresh Rawal shared his sentiments with director Shiboprosad Mukherjee, saying, “I am simply overwhelmed and touched; for such a wonderful film, that you have given me. I can only say that I love you and I pray to God to grant you a very long life. My career as an actor would have been thoroughly incomplete if I wouldn’t have done this film. What a tender film you have made dada! Am thankful that such a subject was handled by someone like you because of the way you go about it, it’s so heart-touching. Dada, I love you very much…thank you for your film.”
Shiboprosad, on his part, said, “My friend, Debashis Saha, who lives in Delhi, had a long dream that we screen the film in Parliament. With this screening, his dream is coming true and that is a big thing for me. ‘Shastry Virudh Shastry’ is our first Hindi film that garnered praises from everywhere. Once I had met Iranian filmmaker Majid Majidi in Mumbai, who had said that a film is like a river that will flow without you knowing. It has happened with this film that found its own audience. I am glad that not only it made it to Netflix Top 10 and retained its position for 20 days, it is now going to be screened for the Rajya Sabha members.”
‘Shastry Virudh Shastry’ deals with a poignant theme with a depth of emotion and sensitivity that resonates deeply with the audiences, making it a cinematic masterpiece that transcends boundaries. Its selection for screening for the members of Rajya Sabha reflects its societal relevance and impact, further solidifying its position as a significant contribution to Indian cinema.
