‘Abeer’ Unveils Its New Poster on the Auspicious Occasion of Vijayadashami!
‘Abeer’ to Explore the Woman’s Inner World Beyond Beauty, Releasing in Theatres on December 18…
Challenging conventional definitions of beauty and exploring a woman’s self-respect, inner strength and struggle for identity, the upcoming Marathi film ‘Abeer’ is creating curiosity among audiences. The film, which is taking Marathi cinema beyond geographical boundaries, has also attracted considerable attention with its selections at international film festivals. Now, the newly unveiled poster of ‘Abeer’, released on the auspicious occasion of Vijayadashami, has further heightened the excitement surrounding the film. Offering a glimpse into society’s perception of women, the prejudices underlying conventional notions of beauty and the emotional world within a woman, the poster raises several intriguing questions about the film’s central theme.
The film has been produced by Shri Sudesh Vasantrao Zaware Patil and presented by Shambho Entertainment and Shri Mahakal Productions. Akash Vishnu Shinde has written the screenplay, dialogues and directed ‘Abeer’. The film comments on a social mindset that often places greater emphasis on a woman’s perceived shortcomings than on her artistic talents because of her physical appearance. One of the key objectives behind this production is to encourage women to stand up with confidence and to challenge discrimination and atrocities against them.
Set against a backdrop of deep orange and brown hues, the poster features the silhouette of a woman, an interplay of light and shadow, and the striking question at its centre: “Should beauty be sought in the face or in one’s values?” Emphasising the importance of inner values and personality over outward appearance, this visual presentation offers a glimpse into the film’s central message. Through his distinctive storytelling, director Akash Shinde seeks to encourage a change in society’s perspective towards women and highlight their strength and capabilities.
Following its selection at the 22nd Indian Film Festival Stuttgart in Germany, ‘Abeer’ has also been selected for the Jagran Film Festival in Delhi. These selections at international film festivals have provided a wider platform for the film’s socially relevant subject.
Speaking about the newly unveiled poster of ‘Abeer’, director Akash Vishnu Shinde said, “Amid the glamour of outward beauty, a woman’s inner beauty, her dreams and the countless shades of her emotional world often remain overlooked. Through ‘Abeer’, we have attempted to sensitively explore these neglected emotions while delving into a woman’s existence, struggles and self-respect. The suggestive visual treatment of the poster, its mysterious emotional undertones and the message it conveys spark curiosity about the many layers of the film’s narrative. Vijayadashami celebrates the victory of good over evil. In the same spirit, ‘Abeer’ expresses the hope that the noble values of humanity will triumph over narrow and restrictive notions of beauty.”
Producer Shri Sudesh Vasantrao Zaware Patil said, “While challenging a mindset that confines beauty within the boundaries of complexion, our endeavour is to give a new dimension to a woman’s achievements, determination and self-respect. Every emotional nuance in the poster of ‘Abeer’ is not merely a hint of the story; it is also a sensitive appeal to society to shed the blinders of prejudice. In Maharashtra’s rich devotional tradition, the relationship between Abeer (coloured powder used in religious celebrations), the Warkari tradition and the dusky-hued Lord Vitthal is not merely one of faith, but also an expression of deep emotional devotion immersed in the eternal colours of bhakti. ‘Abeer’ is not just a film meant for entertainment. It promises to be a deeply moving cinematic experience that will spread the colours of devotion in the hearts of audiences, from rural viewers who remain connected to their roots to every Warkari who bows in reverence at the feet of Vitthal Mauli.”

The film’s associate directors are Amit Khandagale and Sachin Nagare, while Nilesh Gawand has handled editing. The music and background score have been composed by Rohit Nagbhide.
